About Kids Yoga & Mindfulness
Kids yoga is about so much more than stretching or poses.
At its heart, kids yoga and mindfulness help children learn how to understand their bodies, manage their emotions, and build confidence — in ways that feel playful, safe, and empowering.
At The Mindfulness Movement, kids yoga is intentionally designed to meet children where they are developmentally, supporting both their physical and emotional well-being through movement, breath, creativity, and connection.
What Is Kids Yoga?
Kids yoga blends movement, mindfulness, and social-emotional learning into an engaging, age-appropriate experience.
In a kids yoga class, children may:
Move through playful yoga poses and stretches
Practice breathing and calming techniques
Participate in mindful games and group activities
Explore relaxation and rest
Build awareness of their bodies and emotions
There is no pressure to perform, stretch farther, or “do it right.”
The focus is on how it feels, not how it looks.
Unlike adult yoga, kids yoga is:
✔ Interactive
✔ Imaginative
✔ Non-competitive
✔ Developmentally appropriate
Why Kids Yoga & Mindfulness Matter
Children today face a lot — busy schedules, academic expectations, social pressures, and constant stimulation. Kids yoga and mindfulness provide tools that help children navigate these demands with confidence and resilience.
Benefits of kids yoga include:
Improved focus and attention
Emotional regulation and stress relief
Increased body awareness and confidence
Stronger coping skills
Opportunities for calm and connection
These are not just “yoga skills” — they’re life skills children can use at school, at home, and beyond.
Kids Yoga Is for Every Child
Kids yoga is often especially helpful for children who:
Feel anxious, overwhelmed, or overstimulated
Have big emotions or trouble winding down
Don’t connect with competitive sports
Learn best through movement and hands-on experiences
Need tools to calm their bodies and minds
No flexibility, strength, or yoga experience is required.
Every child is welcome exactly as they are.

Kids Yoga Beyond the Mat
The goal of kids yoga isn’t to create perfect poses.
It’s to help children:
These skills carry into everyday life — during school transitions, friendships, homework time, and moments of stress.

Our kids yoga and mindfulness classes are offered before and after school through Community Education partnerships, making it easy for families to access high-quality enrichment right at their child’s school.
Each class is designed specifically for the school setting — structured, age-appropriate, and supportive — while still feeling fun and engaging for kids.

Learn simple breathing and calming strategies
Build emotional regulation and body awareness
Engage in creative, screen-free activities
Practice tools they can use throughout the school day
