Creativity Meets Calm
Make & Take: Calming Creations™ is a hands-on mindfulness and creative wellness program where children learn emotional regulation skills while making meaningful projects they can use long after class ends.
Each session combines art, sensory experiences, and mindfulness practices to help children understand emotions, reduce stress, and build confidence in a fun and supportive environment.
Programs are offered throughout New Brighton, Roseville, White Bear Lake, and surrounding Twin Cities communities.
Why Calming Creations Works
Children often learn best through doing. By creating physical calming tools, kids gain a concrete way to practice mindfulness and self-regulation both during class and at home.
Instead of simply talking about emotions, students actively build tools that help them calm their bodies and focus their minds.
Families often enroll children who:
experience anxiety or big emotions
benefit from hands-on learning
enjoy creative activities
need calming strategies they can use independently
thrive in smaller, supportive group settings
What Kids Create
Each session introduces a new calming concept paired with a creative project children take home and continue using.
Projects may include:
✔ sensory bottles and calming jars
✔ mindful art and reflection projects
✔ slime and sensory-based creations
✔ grounding tools and relaxation crafts
✔ seasonal mindfulness activities
Every project is intentionally designed to reinforce emotional regulation skills through creativity.
Skills Children Develop
While creating, children practice:
emotional awareness
coping and calming strategies
patience and focus
confidence through creativity
self-regulation skills they can use daily
Programs are led by licensed teacher Tara Willits and supported by a professional team trained in mindfulness and child development.
